Latest Updates from Our Project:

Here Comes the Schwag
about 5 years ago – Sat, Jan 26, 2019 at 02:46:34 PM

Good Saturday to you White Ashians,

It had been a little while, so we wanted to send you a quick update. Everything is well into production. As of now, we’re still on track to begin shipping sometime next month. As soon as we get another update from the printer as to the ETA of the comics, we’ll have a clearer idea exactly when in February that will begin.

But we’ve been busy readying the rest of the schwag.  And aside from the new bookmarks, which we just sent off to the printer, everything is done and looking great. Don’t just take our word for it, have a peek for yourselves…

Charlie here. I’m super excited to get these off to you… and reclaim my office which is now filled with trading cards, shipping boxes, prints, backing boards, etc. Reclaim it so I can fill it with more Kickstarter comics from some of the other wonderful creators that are helping push the platform to new heights.

I don’t know if any of you saw this article, but last year Kickstarter was on fire putting out amazing new content, raising over 16 million for creators. We contributed our small part with three issues of White Ash and look forward to a hopeful heathy partnership on the platform in 2019. But we’d be remiss if we didn’t try and help get this year’s numbers off on the right foot and point you toward three amazing projects that are currently on the platform.

The first is Wailing Blade. I’ve read this book. If you like dystopian sci-fi, a civilization whose mythos is built on misunderstood and forgotten tech from a culture long dead… and story with gigantic sword custom made for chopping off heads… this book is for you.

On the other end of the spectrum, if you’re looking for something a little less bombastic… maybe more of a slow boil… or a say hard boiled, I’m thrilled to point you to Work for a Million. A new graphic novel based on the 1978 series by Eve Zaremba starring Helen Keremos, crime fiction's first lesbian private eye.

Featuring a Cover by Sean Phillips, Work for a Million is being adapted by the incredibly talented Amanda Deibert and Illustrated by Selena Goulding. Amanda writes for television and comics and is by far one of my favorite follows on Twitter. This project looks so good and is already well on the way to being funded.

And finally, Cornrows a new urban fantasy comic book series from Brian Hawkins.

Cornrows is ending in five days and still has a little ways to go. Which is a shame because it’s a great looking book from an amazing creator. Brian beyond being an excellent writer is a true champion of independent comics. He’s constantly supporting other Kickstarter books on Twitter and Facebook, spreading the gospel and good vibes. So I hope today you’ll check out his project and give him a little love. Let’s show Brian that Kickstarter gives back.

We’ll be back soon with a shipping update. Till then, enjoy the rest of the weekend.

All the best from Team Ash.

HERE COME THE PDFs
about 5 years ago – Tue, Jan 08, 2019 at 01:06:24 AM

Hello White Ashians,

It's PDF DAY.

That's right, get your digital boogey on and look for an email from our partners at BackerKit. This email should include links to the standard PDF's for Chapter Four and the art prints from the campaign.  If you backed White Ash at a tier that included our Digital Catch-up Pack, links for additional PDFs should be there as well.

We will be distributing more digital content later this month, including the deluxe PDF's and  additional campaign art.  But for now, we wanted to make sure we got Chapter Four into peoples' hands.  We know a lot of our loyal backers have been waiting many months to see the next installment.  So wait no longer.

(Note: As we said before,  the language in Chapter Four at times is a bit saltier than our previous issues. So if you've been sharing White Ash with your children, we suggest you preview it first. )

As for the physical copies, the books are with the printer. We're hoping to have an update soon as to when they will be shipping.  But currently, we still anticipate being able to begin fulfillment in February.

We hope you enjoy Chapter Four.  Please let us know if you don't receive the email from BackerKit or have any trouble downloading the PDFs.

Thank you again for your support. We look forward to hearing what you think.

Two days left to have your name in the Chapter Four PDF
about 5 years ago – Fri, Jan 04, 2019 at 12:53:34 AM

Hello White Ashians,

Happy New Year!

Amazingly, 89% of you have already filled out your BackerKit surveys. To that end, we just wanted to send out this gentle reminder to the 11% who haven't. If you'd like your name listed in the backers' section of the Chapter Four PDF, you have until the end of the day on Saturday to get yours in.  Because on Monday the 7th, we're sending these puppies out.

If for whatever reason you never received a link from BackerKit or are having trouble filling it out, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thanks again for all your support.  Here's to an amazing 2019 in White Ash and in the rest of the world.

Here Come The Surveys
about 5 years ago – Fri, Dec 28, 2018 at 12:02:29 AM

Hello White Ashians,

We hope you’ve all been having a fantastic holiday season and are enjoying some time with your family and loved ones… or at least a couple of people you kinda like. Here in White Ash, it is indeed, the most wonderful time of the year…

…Time for the BACKERKIT SURVEYS. They should be hitting your inbox anytime now.

We apologize that’s taken a bit longer than usual for us to get these to you post-campaign, but the non-Kickstarter festivities that dominate this time of year, tend to slow down even the most tightly run ships. But we’re trying to buckle down. To that end we’ve got a bit of a tight turnaround on the surveys. Specifically:

If you want YOUR NAME in the PDF, you MUST FILL OUT YOUR SURVEY BY JANUARY 5th.

If you fill out your survey after January 5th, you’ll still get all your other rewards, but we’ll be unable to include your name, because on Monday, January 7th we’ll be distributing the Chapter Four PDF.

But we don’t want to make this seem complicated. Filling out the survey is easy. It only takes a minute. BackerKit walks you through everything, collects your shipping information, etc. And if say you wanted to grab a copy of this amazing variant by Joe Quinones…

...you just click a button and boom, it's in your cart  (Hint, if you want one, I'd fill out your survey sooner than later.  We've only saved a few as add ons and it is a very limited print run).

Thank you again for your support of White Ash. It’s your love for independent comics that makes this possible. To that end, we often ask you to “spread the word of our little town” which we know is kind of a general call to arms.  But today we have specific way you can help.

Bleeding Cool is holding nominations for their 2018 Reader Awards. If you were so inclined, we’d humbly ask you to consider submitting White Ash for Best Small Press Comic, Conor Hughes for Best New Artist and Fin Cramb for Best Colourist.   We've also had some amazing cover artists, Nick Robles, Romina Moranelli and of course, Joe Quinones  who are all deserving of Best Cover nods.  Any visibility helps us get a bit more on the mainstream radar.

Even if we’re not your favorites, we encourage you to vote and shine some love on an indie title. There are some amazing Small Press Comics being published here on Kickstarter. Pat Shand’s Destiny NY series is an enthralling and constantly expanding universe. Mythopoeia puts out the breathtaking Glow and Skies of Fire series and Kevin Joseph’s Tart is a true Kickstarter institution (now heading towards an 8th issue all distributed on the platform).

Speaking of Tart, Kevin wanted to remind anyone who backed White Ash Chapter Four AND Tart # 7 you’re in line for some extra special rewards. When you’re filling out your Tart survey (NOT the White Ash one) use the codeword “Sarah“ when you check out and you’ll have one these cross over prints of Lillian teaching Tart how to to shoot by Tart series artis Ludo, included in with your Tart rewards when they ship.

That's it for now.  Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or don't see your survey in your inbox by the end of the day today.

Looking forward to bringing you lots of White Ash goodies in the New Year,

Charlie, Conor, Fin and Heather

Happy Holidays Everyone!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Dec 24, 2018 at 09:47:22 PM

Hello White Ashians, surveys are coming VERY SOON.  In fact, look for them just after Christmas.   We're going to have a tight turnaround on them, so we can get you your PDF's as we start the New Year. For those of you who celebrate, may your holiday be merry.  And for those of you who don't, have an equally amazing Tuesday.

All the season's best from White Ash,

Charlie, Conor, Fin and Heather
